SUMMARY:She Changed the World: North Carolina Women Breaking Barriers Kick-off Event
DESCRIPTION:The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment allowing women the right to vote. As part of a national campaign to commemorate this date\, North Carolina’s Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is coordinating a campaign titled “She Changed the World: NC Women Breaking Barriers\,” with statewide programming running through November 2020! While some American women were granted the right to vote with the 19th Amendment\, many women had to continue the fight in order to exercise that right. The campaign focuses on the fight for enfranchisement and the story of North Carolina women past and present who have achieved amazing things in multiple disciplines to help make the world a better place. \nThis is a non-partisan kick-off event held at the State Capitol with vendors\, partner organizations\, exhibitors\, food trucks\, performances\, and a voter registration drive. Come\, participate\, and learn about the women of the past and present who can inspire you. This is event is free to attend and open to all.

SUMMARY:Fair Districts Community Forum – Lillington
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community forum to inform voters about gerrymandering and why we must end this corrupt practice now\, before redistricting begins after the 2020 Census. Please join us for a stimulating\, nonpartisan\, and eye-opening discussion on one of the most critical issues facing our state. \nClick here to RSVP. \n  \nFair Districts NC is co-sponsoring this event along with the Council.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community forum to inform voters about gerrymandering and why we must end this corrupt practice now\, before redistricting begins after the 2020 Census. President Ronald Reagan said it best when he called for “an end to the un-American and anti-democratic practice of gerrymandering… It isn’t just the district lines that [are] bent out of shape\, it’s the American values of fair play and decency and it’s time we stopped… It’s time to give the votes back to the people.” \nThis forum will explain how gerrymandering works and more importantly\, how it is undermining our democracy\, how we can end it\, and what you\, the voter\, can do about it. Please join us for a stimulating\, nonpartisan\, and eye-opening discussion on one of the most critical issues facing our state. \nClick here to RSVP. \n  \nFair Districts NC is co-sponsoring this event along with the Council.
