SUMMARY:Unmasking the 7 Mountains Mandate: Understanding and Countering Christian Nationalism

This event will help people make connections between the Seven Mandates and policies that are being enacted or proposed for our state and communities. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Confronting Christian Nationalism: Understanding the Threat and Knowing How to Respond
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an important and timely discussion addressing the double-edged threat of Christian Nationalism to our state and our faith. It is a threat to the founding principles of our democracy\, and it is also a threat to the integrity of the Christian Gospel. Participants will learn how to recognize Christian nationalism\, often disguised by a veneer of Christian teaching\, and understand more fully how disinformation can lead to radicalization. We will offer recent examples of nationalist presence in our state and offer participants tools to resist the nationalist narrative when it shows up in our churches and communities. Join us for this critical conversation on safeguarding our democracy and our Christian heritage from this heresy. \nSpeakers: \n\nModerator: Jennifer Copeland\, Executive Director\, North Carolina Council of Churches\nPresenter: Joe Wiinikka-Lydon\, Senior Research Analyst\, Intelligence Project\, Southern Poverty Law Center\nPresenter: Tom Baker\, Senior Research Specialist\, North Carolina Lead\, Bridging Divides Initiative\, Princeton University\nResponder: Kendal McBroom\, Director of Civil and Human Rights\, General Board of Church and Society\, The United Methodist Church\n\nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Ni Un Vida Mas/Not Another Life: Farmworker Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a vigil and press conference that aims to bring attention to recent developments and losses in the farmworker community. These losses have a significant impact and highlight the fact that there are no health and safety standards in place for farmworkers who work in hot and humid conditions. Prompted by the death of farmworker Jose Arturo Gonzalez on September 5th due to what is believed to be heat-related illness\, farmworker advocates are urging the North Carolina Growers Association and NC Department of Labor to take immediate action. Join us this Friday\, November 3\, at the Bicentennial Plaza in Raleigh. \nThe North Carolina Council of Churches is a member of the Farmworker Advocacy Network.
