Mt. Nebo Holiness Church

Elworth Cheek, Wellness Coordinator and health-lead at Mt. Nebo Holiness Church, is equipping his congregation with the tools to live a long, healthy, and abundant life. Below Mr. Cheek describes a little more about the work of Mt. Nebo’s health ministry:

“Our health ministry is very simple. We try to offer healthy eating classes whenever possible. We have a walking track at our church, so, quite naturally, we promote physical activity.  Getting some type of exercise is important, if nothing but walking around the track. I have a bulletin board where I supply wellness tips. We want people to eat right, eat smart, and move more. Our pastor gives sermons on living a healthy lifestyle.

The health fair is always open to the local community as well as throughout Randolph County.  I invite vendors that I think will offer sound health advice.  Such as our county health department, county government, EMS, Insurance navigators, American Red Cross representative, Partnership for Children, Faith Health representative. We use the health fair to promote a healthy lifestyle.”

By including simple practices such as setting up an already developed space as a walking path or meditation area, you congregation and greater community can reap the benefits of physical activity and fellowship. Elworth and Mt. Nebo Holiness Church, we thank you for being a role models for healthy living! If you’d like to learn more about the ministry at Mt. Nebo Holiness Church or gain some helpful tips on growing your congregation’s health ministry, please contact Elworth Cheek at echeek3@triad.rr.com.
