Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church

Our partners at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist are doing fantastic work promoting health wholeness up in the mountains of Asheville, NC! Below is a brief history about their health ministry and how they have gotten to where they are today. We are so incredibly grateful to partner with Tried Stone Missionary and lift up their work. If you’re interested in connecting with them further, please contact health lead Pamela Johnson at pamcaredin1@icloud.com.

“Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church’s health ministry was formulated on June 22, 2014. The mission of the health ministry is to promote health while nourishing the mind, body and spirit. As 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us, spiritual health plays an integral role in our emotional and physical health; having all 3 components balanced will allow individuals to serve the Lord completely. Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church started identifying individuals at risk for diabetes by checking important vitals like blood pressure twice a month, and A1Cs. The congregation has the opportunity to give suggestions for different health classes such as healthy cooking, Zumba, mental health education, and chronic illness education, just to name a few.

Since 2014, the ministry has developed a mental health committee. The mental health committee was able to arrange counseling with a licensed professional for the members of the congregation. Additionally, the committee contributes further through a number of various classes and educational materials made available to the congregation and community.

A supportive community helps us provide a network of loving and healing hands to support the members of the congregation and the community. This is exactly how Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church Health Ministry benefits all the members and the community.”
