At the most recent Brother Towns event, this past Monday, November 1st, the energy filled the Carolina Theatre. About 270 people from around the Durham area came to the screening. Each person was full of excitement and several large groups were in attendance. I have never seen so many people so happy to watch a documentary. Being my first viewing of the film, I was also very excited to see it.
With lots of heart and nuance, Charlie Thompson captured a powerful reality of our world that could reach anyone. Though I had some familiarity with the issue of immigration and the poor living and working conditions of immigrants both in the U.S. and in their native land, I was still shocked to see the reality and hear the stories and experience what they suffer every day. As a seminarian and future pastor, I loved Brother Towns for its ability to speak to everyone and hope myself to use it as an educational tool in my future congregations.
