Warm Weather Recipe: Cranberry-Ginger Ade

May 12, 2015 by Joy Williams, Former PHW Regional Coordinator

Looking for a cool and refreshing way to make use of those cranberries you have in the freezer from the holidays?

I chose to make a spring digestive aid and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious and light this drink is.

I don’t like turning on my AC, especially when there is an outside breeze, and I can feel the cool wind blow through my balcony door creating an inviting draft. One of my favorite spots to sit is at my dining room table, working on my laptop, listening to the birds sing and feeling the wind wisp against my cheeks. I feel so blessed and so close to the Lord when I look out my window or look at the fresh picked wild flowers on my table, and watching them dance as they glide with the breeze.

So being able to drink a nice refreshing drink in a house that registers 83 degrees is a plus.

Here is the simple recipe:

1.5 cups of frozen unsweetened cranberries

6 dates

A small thumbnail size of fresh ginger (more if you like the kick)

3 cups of water

Combine in your blender and enjoy. Add ice to your glass if it is not cold enough. I like to pour a 32 ounce glass and put the other half in the fridge.

I hope you enjoy.
