The Council is hiring a full-time program associate to support Partners in Health and Wholeness and North Carolina Interfaith Power and Light. The full job description is posted below and at this link. Interviews are anticipated in January, and the position is open until filled.
Hours: 32-40 hours per week
Salary and benefits: Hiring range is $30,000-$35,000, depending on qualifications and hours worked. Benefits include paid time off and a retirement plan with organizational match after probationary period.

With more than eight decades of progressive activism, the North Carolina Council of Churches remains the leading faith voice for justice advocacy in North Carolina. Partners in Health and Wholeness (PHW) works with faith communities across the state helping them live healthier and more fulfilling lives. PHW provides faith communities with tools, resources, and support to enhance their capacity and readiness to address the health priorities of their congregation and surrounding community. NCIPL DESCRIPTION
North Carolina Interfaith Power & Light (NCIPL) works with faith communities to identify and implement positive, hope-filled responses to climate change as a moral imperative. NCIPL core programs promote a variety of solutions to mitigate future climate change, including energy efficiency and conservation, increased renewable energy use, and collective low-carbon lifestyle changes. NCIPL programs encourage denominations, congregations, and clergy to be educated about and able to articulate the moral dimensions of climate change and energy justice issues from a faith perspective. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administrative oversight for the PHW & NCIPL Programs. Specifically: disseminate information, oversee application processes, solicit renewals, maintain databases, and organize files.
- Organize, prioritize, and respond to electronic and postal mail correspondence.
- Assist with social media, newsletters, website management.
- Assist with program evaluations and reporting outcomes.
- Cross-train to assist with other programs as needed.
- Maintain inventory of resources for use by congregations, and communities and committees.
- Assist Program Directors with scheduling and coordinating meetings and events
- Assist with Council matters as time permits
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Organizational and relational skills
- Self-guided and pays attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others
- Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information
- Proficiency in MS office and database management
- General agreement with the NCCC’s mission
- Willingness to undergo a criminal background and/or credit check
Preferred
- Four-year college degree
- Proficiency in MS office and database management
- Proficiency with SalesForce, WordPress, and iContact and/or MailChimp
- Affiliation with a faith community
- Experience working with faith communities and/or nonprofit organizations
