PHW Collaborative and Mini-Grant Application Now Open

February 7, 2019 by Michelle Peedin, Program Coordinator, Partners in Health and Wholeness

The Partners in Health and Wholeness Collaborative, Renewal, and Mini-Grant applications are now open!

Each year in our state, thousands of people are diagnosed with preventable diseases. By making a few important lifestyle changes – some as simple as offering water as an option at church events, or as involved as providing smoking cessation classes – churches can help congregants live happier and healthier lives.

PHW provides faith communities with tools, resources, and support to enhance their capacity and readiness to address the health priorities of their congregation and surrounding community. We have proudly done this for years through the previously named PHW Certification program and now our PHW Collaborative program. The congregations that have participated have done and are doing amazing work across the state.

The PHW Collaborative program acknowledges and celebrates congregations that are committed to health and wholeness. In an effort to make the PHW Collaborative yearly renewal process more efficient, we are introducing an additional application: The PHW Collaborative Renewal. If you are a returning applicant who has been approved for the PHW Collaborative within the past 24 months, you are eligible for our PHW Collaborative Renewal application.

Approved members of the PHW Collaborative will be eligible to apply for a Mini-Grant in the February-March cycle, June-July cycle, or October-November cycle. Each congregation can apply for up to $1000 each year once their Collaborative or Renewal application is approved. The mini-grant is designed to support health ministry projects, programs, or events.

Join us to make 2019 a healthier year for all communities across North Carolina.

About Michelle Peedin, Program Coordinator, Partners in Health and Wholeness

Michelle was born and raised in North Carolina. Identifying as first generation Peruvian-American, Michelle's area of study while at UNC was Latin America. She continued her educational experience as a Fellow at Student Action with Farmworkers, a non-profit organization in Durham, NC. Since February of 2017, Michelle continues to spend her time at the Council working with Partners in Health and Wholeness. She seeks to listen, learn from, and empower all communities of NC to pursue a just future for all beings on earth. In her downtime Michelle loves to travel and sing in a barbershop chorus.
