RALEIGH, NC – The North Carolina Council of Churches proudly announces the release of the Faithful Voter Reflection Guide. This vital resource is designed to help people of faith integrate their spiritual beliefs with their civic responsibilities as they prepare for the upcoming election season.
The Faithful Voter Reflection Guide encourages readers to reflect on how their beliefs shape their voting decisions. Grounded in scripture, the guide addresses critical issues such as climate justice, healthcare, public education, criminal justice reform, economic equity, reproductive rights, and gun violence. By offering insights into these pressing topics, the guide aims to spark meaningful discussions and inspire thoughtful reflection within families, congregations, and communities.
“We hope the commentary provided in this voter guide will encourage people to think holistically about the good of our communities and the directive to love our neighbors,” announced Jennifer Copeland, Executive Director of the North Carolina Council of Churches. “When we vote with community well-being in mind, we participate with God in creating space for everyone to flourish.”
The guide also addresses the dangers of Christian Nationalism, also known as dominionism theology, which poses a threat to both democracy and Christian principles. By fusing religious ideology with cultural nationalism, it risks damaging our diverse society and undermining the rights of individuals who do not adhere to this dominant ideology.
Released during a highly sensitive election season, the Faithful Voter Reflection Guide provides a timely tool for faith communities to navigate the complexities of North Carolina’s issues. The Council encourages all faith-based voters to utilize this guide to ensure their values are represented at the polls. The Faithful Voter Reflection Guide is available for download on the North Carolina Council of Churches’ website.
