Worship Resource for Pentecost: Breaking Down Barriers

Program Associate Jennie Wilburn has created a worship resource for Pentecost as an opportunity to break down linguistic and cultural barriers through the Holy Spirit. Jennie writes:

This collection of worship resources can be used in your congregation on Pentecost Sunday (or any other time) to celebrate the fact that Pentecost is a culturally and nationally diverse moment in time that encourages all Christian churches to be a community of strangers called to become neighbors in the Risen Christ.

The resource takes Acts 2:1-18 as its text and includes hymn and prayer suggestions, children’s message and scriptural reflection.

As we live into the fullness of our faith, may we remember our shared connections and recognize the strength in our diversity.

 

About Aleta Payne, Former Deputy Executive Director

Aleta Payne first joined the Council staff in the spring of 2001 as the Communications Associate. She continues to oversee that work along with development, represents the Council in several partnership efforts, and serves in other administrative roles, as well. Aleta is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in government and foreign affairs and spent much of her early career as a journalist. She has three young adult sons who continue to come home to Cary for dinner, or at least groceries, and two young adult terrier-mix dogs who keep the nest from feeling too empty.
