Sister Evelyn Mattern Fund

The Sr. Evelyn Mattern Fund honors a gentle champion of justice whose staff service spanned from the 1980s until she passed from us on the first Sunday of Advent 2003. Sr. Evelyn’s friends established the fund to strengthen the Council’s work on issues particularly important to her include making peace, creating better lives for farmworkers, supporting racial justice and gender justice, protecting God’s creation, nurturing spirituality, deepening interfaith understanding, and mentoring the next generation of ecumenical social activists.
