This August and September, NCIPL will host an eight-week forum series detailing the important issues facing us this election. These events will highlight our voter reflection guide, feature expert speakers, and educate attendees on policy as well as voting during a pandemic.
The second event in our series, held on August 19th from 12-1pm, will focus on moral health policies. This event will consider what moral health care would like and how justice for our communities is on the ballot this election cycle. Featured speakers will include Nicole Dozier of the NC Justice Center and Brigid Flaherty from DownHome NC. Chris Pernell, Director of the Partners in Health & Wholeness program of the NC Council of Churches, will facilitate the discussion.
We know that climate change and environmental injustice impact the health and wellbeing of communities around our state, country, and world. We are so grateful to be able to highlight these intersections, and the importance of voting in the upcoming election, through this work.
