The liturgical season of Lent is all about waiting. Waiting for the day when God’s peace overcomes the chaos of the world. Waiting for justice in the midst of injustice. Waiting for the oppressed to be set free and those on the margins of society to be lifted up. Waiting, ultimately, for the day when the empire fully reflects the beauty and mercy of God’s kingdom. Waiting.
But waiting can be hard. Especially when so many of our brothers, sisters, and friends are hurting. In Psalm 13 David cries out,
“Lord, how long must I wait? Will you forget me forever? How long will you turn your face away from me?”
This lenten season we invite you to join us in the waiting and we hope that you will find this guide helpful in your church, small group, family, or personal reflection.
