Health-Related Bulletin Inserts for the Faith Community

January 6, 2011 by Willona Stallings, Former Program Coordinator – Partners in Health & Wholeness

Eat Smart, Move More North Carolina – the same group that brought to us the Maintain, Don’t Gain Holiday Challenge – has developed health-related bulletin inserts for the faith community.  These inserts provide short, easy-to-read messages on a variety of health topics such as asthma, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease and stroke.

Our scriptures teach that our bodies are God’s temple (I Corinthians 3:16) and that we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12:1).  Unfortunately, many of our brothers and sisters are suffering from chronic illnesses that could be prevented or controlled by getting the recommended amount of physical activity; eating healthy, well-balanced meals; and not using tobacco products.  It is my prayer that the health-related bulletin inserts will serve as an invaluable resource for clergy and congregants as we seek to live an abundant life of health and wholeness (John 10:10).

Please review and download the materials at: http://www.eatsmartmovemorenc.com/FaithBulletinInserts/FaithBulletinInserts.html.

About Willona Stallings, Former Program Coordinator – Partners in Health & Wholeness

Partners in Health and Wholeness (PHW) connects congregations with existing resources in the community and provides them with the tools necessary (sometimes in the form of mini-grants) to implement healthier practices, policies and programs. I live in Raleigh and enjoy good food, area greenways and bargain shopping.
