Sojourners is calling on pastors to challenge the myth that charities and churches can solve the problems of poverty in this country. Six pastors have recently launched an “Open Letter from 1,000 Pastors” to let our political leaders know this isn’t true. Sojourners reports that these “pastors believe that churches must provide strong leadership in responding to poverty, and they are doing so, but the government also has responsibilities — vital ones.” Clergy can become one of the 1,000 pastors to sign on here.
