Tweet on Behalf of Children in Poverty

September 24, 2012 by Sandy Irving, Volunteer Program Associate

Half in Ten reminds us that one in five children in the US lives in poverty (sadly, it is one in four in North Carolina) yet the presidential candidates are not discussing poverty in a meaningful way. The Coalition for Human Needs is joining with Half in Ten and Every Child Matters to try to change this discussion. At the Half in Ten website you can learn about sending a simple tweet to bring to the media’s attention that poverty in the US needs discussion and solutions.

If you know how to tweet, please join in.  If you don’t have a Twitter account, signing up is free and simple. I did it! Below is the tweet I just sent with one click. If I can do it everyone can!

1/5 children live in #poverty. @NewsHour Ask candidates how they’ll reduce #childpoverty in 1st #100days? http://bit.ly/T4fBhp #talkpoverty
