Act Now to Make Immigration Reform a Reality

May 24, 2013 by chris

call in

The Senate immigration bill, which includes a path to citizenship for our nation’s 11 million undocumented immigrants, passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee this week and is on its way to the Senate floor for a debate and vote. Couple that with a recent survey that found over 80% of North Carolinians support a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. and we’re on our way.

Now is the time to demand that North Carolina Senators Richard Burr and Kay Hagan stand on the right side of history and publicly support the Senate’s immigration reform bill.

Call 1-888-891-3271 and ask Senator Burr and Senator Hagan to publicly support immigration reform. Here’s what you can say: “Hello, my name is _________ and I support the Senate’s immigration reform bill. It’s time to end family separations, create a path to citizenship, and fix our broken immigration system. I am asking that Senator [Burr or Hagan] publicly support the bill. Thank you.”

Senator Richard Burr Senator Kay Hagan

This is just the beginning of Path to Citizenship Week!

On Wednesday, May 29th, we’ll deliver photo albums and stories of immigrant families to both senators. On Friday, May 31st, we’ll meet with Senator Hagan in person to ask for her support. On Saturday, June 1st, we’ll rally outside the offices of Senator Burr in Winston-Salem and Senator Hagan in Greensboro, and wrap up Path to Citizenship Week with a citizenship workshop in Greensboro.

Your phone call will make a real impact. Help keep the momentum going and make sure our senators support this historic reform.

Special thanks to the Latin American Coalition.
