George Reed’s retirement luncheon is set for Tuesday, June 2. This is a short five weeks from now. Of course everyone will miss him in his role as Executive Director, but this gathering is a way to celebrate his work and to wish him well in the next part of his journey.
There will certainly be a bounty of good friends, family, and respected colleagues attending this celebration. In the press of the crowd, you may not get an opportunity to speak to George that day. So you are invited to share your thoughts and memories in a card, letter, or e-mail before the luncheon. These messages will be collected and archived in a book for George.
Your presence at George’s fete will be appreciated and will speak to your love and respect for George. That is certainly enough; but if you cannot attend or if you would like to give words to your appreciation for him, these messages will provide an enduring memory.
You can send e-mails to info@ncchurches.org with “For George” in the subject line. Cards and letters may be mailed to my attention at NCCC, 27 Horne Street, Raleigh, NC 27607.
While George knows we are collecting these, we hope to keep the actual content a surprise until June 2, so please send your words to me rather than to him.
Rose: I’ll work on something to send — prob’ly a poem, but I don’t know yet.
