Join the Race to Quit, NC

September 30, 2015 by Joy Williams, Former PHW Regional Coordinator

Smoking is the most preventable cause of disease, disability, and death. One out of every five North Carolinians is a smoker and may be unaware of the support that exists to help them quit. Tobacco users and non-tobacco users can work together to help prevent and end this dangerous addiction. Jesus taught us about the need for community, and that is what we can be for each other in the work to reduce and eventually eliminate tobacco use.

More than fifty organizations in North Carolina are coming together to launch Race to Quit, NC taking place October 5 through 9. Together, along with many other North Carolinians, we are equipping and inspiring people to quit tobacco use. Please join the race!

Our bodies and our health are gifts to us, and as faithful people, we have a responsibility to care for them. If you are struggling with tobacco use, please seek help. And if you are tobacco free, then please reach out and help someone break free. By providing support and encouragement, you can help make sure that we are all good and faithful stewards.

About Joy Williams, Former PHW Regional Coordinator

I am passionate about health and faith. Children, families, and elders have my deepest love and concern, and I've cultivated a heart for dance, plants, cooking, water, chilling with great friends, and talking about the matters of the heart. I love the Lord and seek to bring myself and others closer to The King Most High.
