There’s an App for That

April 21, 2017 by Andrew Hudgins, Program Associate for Operations

The Council is excited to announce the release of our free app for iOS and Android mobile devices. The current political climate has proven to be chaotic at times and deeply troubling to many progressive people of faith. Each new day seems to bring with it a new set of concerns: health care, HB 2 “repeal,” proposed massive budget cuts, concerns of foreign interference in the election, immigration bans, and threats to withhold funding from sanctuary cities. The list could go on and on and on. It’s hard to keep track of it all. That’s why we’ve created this new resource to help you stay connected to faith-based progressive activism in North Carolina.

Wanting to know about key legislation being processed in the General Assembly? You’ll find up-to-date NC legislative coverage in our app.

Looking for lectionary-based worship resources with a justice focus? You can find that in our app as well.

Searching for theological reflections on current events? That is in our app, too.

Interested in attending a conference, seminar, or event to learn more about justice issues and how you can be a force for good? You guessed it – that’s all in the app.

The app has all of the same great Council resources helping to inform progressive activism, just formatted for a better experience on your smart phone or tablet.

To start engaging with your faith in a whole new way, go to your google play or app store on your mobile device.  Search “NC Council of Churches” and download it today.

About Andrew Hudgins, Program Associate for Operations

Andrew was born and raised in Virginia and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work from James Madison University. That also happens to be where he met his wife, Kelly. He attended seminary in northern Virginia and worked at a church, primarily with the youth, before they moved to Houston, Texas as full-time volunteers with a Christian missions organization called Mission Year. While there, they lived in solidarity with their neighbors in an under-resourced community learning what it means to “love your neighbor as yourself.” When the program ended in July, 2016, they moved to Raleigh wanting to be a little closer to home and desiring to set down roots in a place for awhile. He enjoys reading, watching sports (primarily football and baseball), and playing board games.
