PHW Faith and Health Summit: Thank You

October 30, 2017 by Shannon Axtell Martin, PHW Regional Coordinator

It has been a little over a week since our third PHW Faith and Health Summit, themed “Making Connections: We’re Worth It.” The day began with worship and a keynote address by The Reverend Richard Joyner. We were inspired and challenged to see the world through relationships, and to embrace the possibilities and calling of God even when it does not fit our desires, comforts, or plans. It was a truly powerful word and a remarkable, energy-filled way to begin our day. From there we attended workshops, shared a meal, heard the NC Secretary of State speak, and closed the day with worship and communion. It truly was a day of making connections, of reaffirming the value of each and every person, and refocusing our collective efforts to increase the health and wholeness of our communities. We look forward to continuing these conversations and connections in the days and weeks ahead.

We have additional methods of follow up to come, but as as start, for those of you who have not yet joined the PHW Collaborative, we invite you to join us before November 15th. Our next round of mini-grants will be open in January. We are honored to join together in this work.

And finally, to all our speakers, exhibitors, volunteers, funders, staff, and attendees, we are grateful for your commitment to health and wholeness and for joining us last Friday. Thank you for your wisdom, expertise, passion, and presence. We would not be PHW without you.

About Shannon Axtell Martin, PHW Regional Coordinator

I get so excited about the many aspects of the faith and health, particularly the food and faith, movement. I am honored to be a part of it through the work of PHW. I love travelling, cooking, eating, writing and preaching. I am an aspiring gardener, artist, and half-marathoner. My deepest joys in life involve my 8th and 9th grade girls small group, wonderful family, dear friends, husband Robert and puppy Benny, and the amazing blessing of figuring out this journey of life together.

    Shannon,

Thank you so much for sharing this report with us. I had and unexpected issue that had to be addressed that prevented my attendance.
However, I have been informed, encouraged, and enlightened on each occasion that I have had the privileged attended.
God bless all of you for the great work that you do to make NC abetter place in which we all can live and be a blessing to others !
