Community Superstar: Josh McClenney

February 21, 2022 by Rachel Baker, Communications Director

This February, during Black History Month, we are highlighting 4 amazing Community Superstars. These incredible people are local Black leaders in North Carolina who have been doing amazing work in their communities!

This week our Community Superstar is Josh McClenney. Josh is a committed activist serving his community and advocating for climate justice. He believes in centering people and communities especially when it comes to protecting our future.

Josh McClenney is the Legislative and Policy Coordinator for Appalachian Voices where he works to fight for just and equitable utilities that work for everyday North Carolinians. A Piedmont North Carolina native, Josh attended Appalachian State University where he received an M.A. in Appalachian Studies. Josh joined the Appalachian Voices team following his graduation. You can probably find Josh writing about the last concert he went to, helping out as an assistant coach for UNC’s Club Handball team, or trying to find the best slice of pizza in the Triangle.

We are honored to be spotlighting Josh McClenney and appreciate his dedication to climate justice!
