Advocates for farmworker rights will gather with North Carolina field and poultry workers this Day of the Dead, the Mexican celebration of life and death known as Día de los Muertos. The event will recognize farmworkers who have died in the past year and other workers who continue to labor in hazardous conditions. Expert speakers will give testimony about dangerous and debilitating working conditions on farms and in poultry processing facilities, and call on elected officials to better protect the thousands of poultry workers and farmworkers who are at risk in North Carolina today.
The event takes place in Pullen’s Poteat Chapel.
