WNC March for Overdose Awareness Day

Join us in bringing the local community together for International Overdose Awareness Day.

We’ll gather at the Old Armory in Waynesville at 3:30 p.m. to share our grief over the lives that we have lost, raise awareness about the prevention of overdose deaths, and reduce the stigma that surrounds drug use. There will be music, art, and information. At 4:30 p.m. we will kick-off a Second Line March, where we will walk in a parade joined by live music, carrying photos of loved ones we want to lift up and items that represent their spirit and their love. The march will conclude at the Courthouse in Waynesville, where we will hear stories from people impacted by overdose in our community. We will also have a “lifeline” that will feature the names of all of our lost loved ones.

Information will be available to the community about how we can reduce the harm of the overdose crisis here at home and how we can work together to save lives.
