Faithful Reform in Health Care is urging people of faith to act to protect Medicaid–health care for the voiceless and our most vulnerable citizens. This is our chance to be a voice for God’s children who often have no voice. Medicaid cuts are being considered in Congress that will hurt the sick, disabled and poorest members of our communities. Take action now by contacting your members of Congress — NC Senators Hagan and Burr and your representative. The message from Faithful Reform for Health Care reads in part:
The April Kaiser Health Tracking Poll indicated that 85% of Americans either oppose reductions or support only minor reductions to Medicaid. In fact, in reviewing the polling data, Kaiser Family Foundation President Drew Altman said: “The big surprise in [the April] tracking poll is that one group who does not want to cut Medicaid is the American people.”
While some members of Congress continue to press for Medicaid reductions as a way to address our federal budget woes, many are using the budget discussion to act on their long-standing opposition to the Medicaid program itself. We cannot let them get away with this! Our Representatives and Senators need to hear from us that they were elected to represent us and that we oppose their efforts to balance the budget on the backs of low-income and working families, children, and low-income seniors. Members of Congress from both parties need to hear this!
