The June 9 Moral Monday sent a powerful message to state leaders about the value North Carolinians place on strong public schools. If you couldn’t be there, our friends at the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina have shared some video with us.

And if you’d like additional ways to engage as a person of faith in supporting our public schools, you are welcome to attend the Council’s Critical Issues Seminar on June 16 at United Church of Chapel Hill. Registration has closed for those who require lunch, but we are still able to accommodate those who do not need a guaranteed meal. You can register online until 4 p.m. Friday, June 13 or in person at the church beginning at 8:15 a.m. on June 16.

We will finish in time for those who wish to take part in that day’s Moral Monday to make the drive to Raleigh.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

About Aleta Payne, Former Deputy Executive Director

Aleta Payne first joined the Council staff in the spring of 2001 as the Communications Associate. She continues to oversee that work along with development, represents the Council in several partnership efforts, and serves in other administrative roles, as well. Aleta is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in government and foreign affairs and spent much of her early career as a journalist. She has three young adult sons who continue to come home to Cary for dinner, or at least groceries, and two young adult terrier-mix dogs who keep the nest from feeling too empty.
